Humane Society of Harford County Giving Pets a Shot at Healthy Life

Fallston, MD (July 9, 2024) – The Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC), together with the Harford County Health Department, is hosting a public pet vaccination clinic on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 10am-2pm at the Whiteford Fire Company, 1407 Pylesville Road, Whiteford, MD 21160. Vaccines, microchips and nail trims will be administered on a first come, first-served basis, and appointments are not required. Payment is via cash or a major credit card.
“Protecting the family pet from deadly and preventable diseases like parvovirus, distemper and panleukopenia should never come down to cost,” said Bob Citrullo, executive director at HSHC. “Our goal is to make core vaccines affordable for pet parents who are experiencing financial challenges and are unable to afford a regular relationship with a veterinarian.”
The clinic will offer distemper and Bordetella for dogs, distemper for cats, and rabies vaccines for dogs, cat, and ferrets. Vaccines are $10 each. Pets can also be microchipped at the clinic for $25. In addition, special guest Heart to Heart Mobile Pet Care, LLC will be onsite, offering nail trims for $20 per animal.
“Getting a microchip is such a quick and easy thing to do,” Citrullo added. “It takes just a few seconds to implant the chip and makes identifying your pet a breeze if it’s ever lost or stolen.”
Animals must be at least 4 months old to be vaccinated. To ensure the safety of everyone, dogs must be on a non-retractable leash with a properly fitted collar, and cats and ferrets must be safely contained inside a carrier.
